Nomad Wings Auto
π¦ Product Overview
The Nomad Wings Auto is a 2X2 MIMO cellular antenna with up to 2X2 MIMO Wi-Fi and optional GPS. It is designed for high performance across 5G frequencies (600 MHz - 6 GHz) and is ideal for mobile, transportable solutions such as event setups and camping. With its IP67-rated construction, this antenna performs exceptionally even in harsh environments, providing reliable connectivity without taking up space. Mounting options include magnetic, adhesive, or screw bases for flexible installation.
π§ Required Tools
- π© Phillips Screwdriver
- π οΈ 3/16β Drill Bit (for screw mounting)
ποΈ Mounting Options
- 𧲠Magnetic Mount: Install on a ferrous metallic surface. Ensure strong magnetic attraction for secure placement.
- π·οΈ Adhesive Mount: Clean and mark the surface before adhering the antenna. Remove the protective backing and apply downward pressure to secure the antenna.
- π© Screw Mount: Drill two 0.25β diameter holes into the wall and use provided wall anchors and screws to secure the antenna.
π‘Antenna Placement Considerations:
- Ground Plane: Ensure a suitable metallic surface (at least 20β x 20β or 5 inches from all sides of the antenna) for best performance.
- Interference: Install the antenna at least 24 inches away from electrical devices such as lights, routers, and other antennas to avoid signal interference.
- Signal Path Loss: Avoid installing the antenna near thick materials like concrete walls or metal that could cause significant signal loss.
π οΈ Installation Instructions
𧲠Magnetic Mount:
- Choose a flat, metallic surface with strong magnetic attraction.
- Position the antenna and ensure it faces up, free from nearby devices to avoid interference.
π·οΈ Adhesive Mount:
- Clean the mounting surface, remove the backing from the antenna, and press firmly onto the desired location.
- Ensure the antenna faces up and is securely attached.
π© Screw Mount:
- Drill two 0.25β diameter holes at the chosen location, ensuring the mounting site is free from obstructions like pipes or wiring.
- Insert wall anchors and secure the antenna with the provided screws. Route the cables to prevent strain and avoid sharp bends.
πCable Routing & Connection
- Route the cables carefully, avoiding sharp bends. Secure the cables with clamps or ties about 6 inches from the antenna.
- Connect the antenna cables to your router:
- πΆ CELL 1 to MAIN0
- πΆ CELL 2 to AUX0 / DIV
- π‘ Wi-Fi 1 to 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi 1
- π‘ Wi-Fi 2 to 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi 2
- π°οΈ GPS to GNSS
π Commissioning & Testing
- Ensure all connections are tight and cables are properly routed without sharp bends.
- Verify signal strength using a cellular device, confirming RSSI is higher than -75dB.
- Confirm that the cellular connection supports the required data rates.
β οΈ Safety Warnings
- Maintain a separation distance of at least 20 cm from the antenna to comply with FCC RF exposure requirements.
- Do not operate the antenna if someone is within 24 inches of it.
- To prevent injuries, avoid installing the antenna on a windy day or near power lines.
